Copper Radiator Repair, Victorville CA

Copper Radiator Repair · Victorville CA

Copper cores are worth saving, and we treat them that way. Johnny has been rodding out, re-soldering and rebuilding copper radiators in Victorville for more than thirty years, using solder and core stock chosen for the job instead of whatever is cheapest on the shelf.

Whether the unit came out of a daily driver, a show car or a piece of shop equipment, the goal is the same: full flow through every tube, no seeps at the seams, and the heat transfer copper is known for.

What this job involves

Most copper radiators that come through the door are not leaking because the metal failed — they are plugged. Scale, casting sand and old stop-leak collect in the tubes until only part of the core is actually moving coolant. We open the unit, rod the tubes clean, then re-solder the tanks back on and pressure test before it leaves.

If the tubes are too thin to save, we can recore the radiator and keep your original tanks, brackets and filler neck, so the part still looks correct in an original engine bay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is copper better than aluminum for cooling?
Copper moves heat exceptionally well and is easy to repair again later, which is why classic and heavy-equipment owners stay with it. Aluminum is lighter and cheaper to mass produce, which is why factories use it today.
Can you fix a copper radiator that has already been repaired before?
Usually yes. Copper and brass can be re-soldered many times. If previous repairs left the tubes too thin, we will tell you and quote a recore instead.
